Beauty expert reveals top secrets for looking younger

Why is it that some women never seem to age?  When many of us begin scrutinizing our crow’s feet and grey hair, others seem to just look better and better with time – and we’re talking about those who have not had any surgery!

A new beauty bible “How Not to Look Old”, written by former Glamour beauty editor, Charla Krupp, lets us in on these secrets, and here are 7 of them for you to ponder.

1. Sort out your hair style

Nothing ages you like an up-do, or visibly thinning hair. If your hair is brittle or thin, then hair extensions can be a wonderful way of instantly adding volume, shine and vitality.  A soft fringe can also help to hide a receding hairline (or a wrinkled forehead!)

2. Sort out your hair colour

Grey roots are an instant ager – and solid blocks of dark colour can be as well.  That doesn't mean every woman should become a blonde, but many people can instantly achieve a glow by lightening their hair by around two shades.  You can also use clip-in hair extensions to add some extra colour and gloss.

3. Tame those eyebrows

Bushy unkempt eyebrows, tweezed too-thin brows or grey brow hairs are all a no-no. A clean arch will flatter the face.

4. Soften your eye make-up

Learn to cut back on heavy use of eyeliner and stick to an understated brush of eyeshadow in subtle beige, brown or grey.

5. Wear pink lipstick

Nothing ages you like dark, matte lipstick, or obvious lip liner. Pink lightens up the mouth, and helps make the lips look plumper.

6. Whiten your teeth

A great smile is a must have if you want to look younger. Do keep them clean with a whitening toothpaste, and consider cosmetic bleaching, if the staining is bad.

7. Unmatch your wardrobe

Mix and match and only buy trends that look good on you.  Having everything match perfectly is a sure-fire way to look older than your years!
