Damage Free Hair Extension Removal

Posted by Melanie Johnson on February 17, 2010

We all know that a lady is allowed to change her mind and that many of our favourite celebrities change their look as often as their underwear. Stars like Keira Knightley go from short to long and back again overnight, so why should we be any different? Whether you fancy a different colour, length or style, with a little care you can remove your old weft extensions without causing damage to your own hair, leaving a beautiful blank canvas for your next install!

To begin with, you will need our 'Liquid Gold Glue Remover', which is specially designed to soften and dissolve the bonding material without harming your hair. Simply pour some remover onto a cotton pad and use this to thoroughly saturate the bonded area. Leave the remover on for a few minutes while you relax (it can take up to three minutes to work) then GENTLY slide the extensions from your hair.

If the extensions don't slide out straight away, don't worry or yank at them - pulling on them too hard is the main cause of damage to your own hair. Simply apply more remover where they are stiff and wait a few extra minutes. If there is any residue left in your hair after removing the extensions, add a little remover to it then simply slide it out, holding your own hair close to the scalp to protect it.

After your removal, simply way your hair with a clarifying shampoo, blow dry and you are instantly ready to apply your next set of extensions!

Hi Racheal, The clip ins will hold securely and can be used for almost permanent wearing. How much damage is caused by having wefts sewn or glued into your hair is largely down to how well they're applied and removed. Clip ins give you the freedom to put them in and take them out when you choose.
