Hair extensions featured at Milan Fashion Week

Milan Fashion Week is one of the hottest events on the couture calendar.  With celebrities such as Heidi Klum, Taylor Swift, Rachel Bilson and Leona Lewis in attendance, it’s THE place to check out some of the key trends for winter season and in some cases, spring 2011.  This year, hair extensions have been featured more than ever.  Long hair has been promoted as a key accessory, with models on some of the most prestigious catwalks modelling various styles which have been enhanced with human hair extensions.

Robert Cavalli’s spring ’11 showcase featured snake-skin dresses, which were ripped so they flowed around the body – and lots of free-flowing fringing  on trousers, bags and boots.  The models wore super-long, poker-straight hair extensions, with layering through the ends – which added to the feeling of movement.

The shows from Gianfranco Ferré and Bottega Veneta both featured long and loose waves, a look which is again best achieved with human hair extensions.  The Veneta models showed off a touch of surf-chick chic, with partially wet, air-dried waves; whereas the Ferré look was a more obviously groomed style, created with curling tongs (curled from ear length down, so the crown stayed smooth).

Whether you favour super-straight or loose waves, it’s clear that both of these looks are most definitely on-trend!
