Katy Perry channels Madonna at MTV Awards show

Katy Perry put on an exciting and typically eccentric performance at the MTV Music Awards in Malaysia earlier this week – and sported a new, longer hairdo, courtesy of some hair extensions.

The singer, who is known for her love of junk food, performed on a giant banana split, and enthralled the crowds with a striking new look.  Wearing a sequinned catsuit and a tutu which was removed halfway through the performance, Katy used clip-in hair extensions to create a high, long ponytail, secured with a braid – the exact same look which Madonna used in her Blonde Ambition tour.

After the show, Katy admitted that Madonna had indeed inspired her image change, as she tweeted “Tonight I look like a Russian ballerina with Madonna’s hair... Perfect!”

Russell Brand’s fiancee went on to prove just how versatile and easy to use clip-in extensions can be, as her hair was straight back to the usual shoulder-length ‘do when she walked the red carpet, after her performance.
