Now Cher Lloyd has red hair extensions – just like Cheryl

From the word go on this year's X-Factor, we couldn’t help but notice the similarities between judge Cheryl Cole and the girl she now mentors, 17-year-old contestant Cher Lloyd. Both had long hair extensions, petite figures, a similar sense of style and fairly comparable background stories.

As the weeks have gone on, and Cher has been subjected to professional styling, the similarities have only increased. And now, the likeness is almost spooky – as Cher has copied Cheryl Cole’s red hair extensions. She was even photographed arriving at rehearsals yesterday wearing her hair in a shaggy, fish-tail plait, flung over one shoulder, just like…..yes, Cheryl.

Not only was the plait on the left-side of her head and braided identically, it was also messily tousled in exactly the same way and tied in the same place. Cher seems to have also ditched her trademark bright pink lippy for a softer shade to match her mentor's.

With rumours that Cheryl Cole may be moving to the States, we wonder if she is cloning Cher in readiness, to replace her in the UK? Or is it just that Cher truly idolises her mentor? If so, Cheryl ought to be flattered, as you know what they say about imitation…
