Report: One in twenty women now wear hair extensions
Posted by Jo Roberts on July 2, 2010

A recent poll by Jolen has revealed some startling truths about women’s beauty regimes. It seems girls are going to great lengths to look fabulous – and the men have absolutely no idea just what this involves.
Just some of the pampering processes which elude men on a daily basis are leg waxing, fake tans and eyebrow plucking. But it's no wonder when 18 per cent of women purposely seek to hide their habits from their men, believing it will make them seem desperate or un-ladylike, according to the report.
Here are some other interesting statistics: 10 percent of women wear false or acrylic nails and around one in twenty wear hair extensions to make their locks more voluminous and lustrous.
Over half of those surveyed go for regular hair colours or highlights and 19 percent frequently use a fake tanning product.
An honest 17 per cent believed people would be shocked at their appearance if they were to go out minus hair extensions, fake tan and perfectly groomed eyebrows.
The survey also concluded that over the course of one year, the average woman spends nearly 10 full days on beautifying herself.
