Taylor Momsen – from girly to goth

It’s amazing what a few hair extensions and some make-up tricks can do.  And Taylor Momsen, who plays sweet-girl-turned-tough Jenny Humphrey in Gossip Girl, is clearly a great actress.  Because when the cameras stop rolling, the demure girl we see on our TV screens turns into a sexy rock chick.

17-year-old Taylor recently performed at the UK’s V Festival, with her band ‘The Pretty Reckless’, looking like a younger, prettier Courtney Love: a far cry from her on-screen persona.  Sporting super-long hair extensions, a vintage corset, high heels and some heavy eyeliner, Taylor looked every part the goth rocker.

Connecticut-born Taylor has been working since she was just 2 years old. At seven she had a starring role in The Grinch That Stole Christmas, then was pipped to the role of Hannah Montana by Miley Cyrus, before landing the part of Jenny in Gossip Girl.  Her album ‘Light Me Up’ with The Pretty Reckless is out now and features some pretty heavy lyrics about loss, death and destruction.  It’s fair to say this is one girl who leads quite the double life!
